In the first quarter of 2022, insurers paid a total of PLN 3.54 billion (approx.: EUR 0.77 billion) in claims from motor policies. Out the total, paid claims for MTPL insurance accounted for 57.6%, the Polish Chamber of Insurance said quoting data from the Information Centre of the Insurance Guarantee Fund.

According to the same source, the frequency of damage from MTPL insurance was by 6.7% lower than reported in Q1 2021, and from Motor Hull insurance - by 1.9% lower than a year earlier.

Collisions and accidents that led to compensations from third party liability policies in the first quarter of this year most often occurred on Mondays and Thursdays.

At the end of March this year, the number of active MTPL insurance contracts was of 27.2 million, while the number of Motor Hull insurance contracts was of 6.8 million.
