In a country where traffic tests your reflexes - and patience - every day, a Romanian app developed by the Romanian Motor Insurers’ Bureau (BAAR) is proving that even the most stressful moments on the road can be handled differently: calmly, efficiently, and without the eternal search for a pen.

The app, called Amiabila, offers a digital alternative to the traditional paper-based friendly accident report. So far, over 200,000 drivers have switched from the glove compartment form to the digital version — and the number is growing by almost 200 new users every day.

With Amiabila, minor accidents can be resolved in just a few minutes, directly from your smartphone — free of charge, securely, and without unnecessary bureaucracy. The app complies with all data protection standards, and the information and documents uploaded are sent directly to the insurers of the drivers involved.

The app also uses GPS technology to pinpoint the exact location of the accident, and it replaces the clumsy hand-drawn sketch with predefined icons that users can easily place on the screen.

“More and more insurance and claims processes are becoming digital. It was only natural that the standard procedure for minor accidents should have a digital alternative as well. The launch of Amiabila marks a key step in the modernization of Romania’s motor insurance services,”
said Mădălin Roșu, President of BAAR.
“Our goal was to create a simple and transparent digital bridge between drivers and insurance companies. Amiabila should be on every Romanian driver’s phone.”

As BAAR’s latest campaign humorously suggests, by the time you’d finish filling out a paper form, you could already be back on the road — or even having coffee with your “new friend” from the accident. The campaign’s video, aptly titled “Furios & Politicos” (“Furious & Polite”), imagines how post-accident exchanges might sound if drivers truly acted amicably.

Because many users only think of downloading the app after an accident, Amiabila now includes a range of extra features useful for everyday driving: automatic notifications for expiring insurance (RCA), vehicle inspection (ITP), or driver’s license — helping motorists avoid fines and stay compliant.
