Reducing the risks in agriculture by using insurance means, discussed in Skopje

On November 1st, an Agricultural insurance conference took place in Skopje, Macedonia, organized by the Insurance Supervision Agency in cooperation with the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Water Economy. Drawing attention to the necessity of reducing the risks in agriculture by using insurance was the event's main purpose.

The conference gathered representatives from the insurance sector, representatives from state institutions and regulatory bodies, as well as representatives from the agricultural sector.

At the conference a special address was held by Mr. Kocho ANGJUSHEV, Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Macedonia responsible for economic affairs and coordination with the economic sectors, Mr. Ljupcho NIKOLOVSKI, Minister of Agriculture, Forestry and Water Economy in the Government of the Republic of Macedonia and Mr. Klime POPOSKI, President of the Council of Experts of the Insurance Supervision Agency

Representatives of several leading institutions specialized in agricultural insurance such as the Turkish Agricultural Insurance Pool (TARSIM), the Hail Insurance Company (Oesterreichische Hagelversicherung VVaG - OHV) from Austria, Swiss Re from Switzerland, Polish Re from Poland, Access to Insurance Initiative -A2ii and Reinsurance Company Europa Re from Switzerland presented their experiences in this area, so that the conference participants got relevant information about various solutions worldwide.

Within the manifestation, a prize and a plaque for the best research in the field of risk and insurance in the Republic of Macedonia for 2018 under the title "Analysis of the global micro-insurance market and the possibilities for its implementation in the Republic of Macedonia" was awarded. The goal of the research is to increase the awareness, information and knowledge of Macedonian insurance companies for the concept and models of micro insurance (download here original version in Macedonian language).

The prize was awarded to the author Ms. Tanja Kamenjarska by the President of the Council of Experts of the Insurance Supervision Agency, Mr. Klime Poposki followed by a brief review of the research by the author.
