SLOVAKIA, 3Q2012: Insurance market down by 0.7% to EUR 1.58 billion
slovakia-statisticsThe Slovak insurance market continued to slow down in January-September 2012, the total GWP realized by the local insurance companies totaling EUR 1.58 billion, down by 0.67% y-o-y, according to the financial figures published by the Slovak Insurers Association - SLASPO.

In the analyzed period, life insurance decreased by 0.4%, to EUR 846 million, while the non-life insurance segment dropped by 1%, to EUR 738 million. Despite the decrease in life insurance, the unit-linked products have grown by almost 1%, which represents 35% of the life segment. In non-life insurance, the falling trend continued in motor insurances segments. For Motor Hull policies, the decrease in GWP slowed down to -4.6% (-5.55% in 1H2012), while MTPL dropped by 1.3%.

The biggest insurers were the financial groups VIENNA Insurance (comprising KOOPERATIVA Poistovna, KOMUNALNA Poistovna and Poistovna Slovenskej Sporitelne), with a share of 32.8%, and ALLIANZ (ALLIANZ Slovenska Poistovna), with 28.5%.

In absolute value, the biggest growth was recorded by KOOPERATIVA (of EUR 7.2 million), KOMUNALNA (EUR 5.2 million) and AEGON (EUR 2.8 million).
