The Slovak Insurance Association said that around 20% of all compensation paid is related to fraud. Allianz-Slovenska Poistovna, Slovakia's biggest insurer, conducted an investigation into the claims it received and found that nearly nine out of every 10 claims it investigated were attempted fraud. The incidents of insurance fraud are seen to be seasonal, Katarina Vargova of Kooperativa poistovna, A.S., said. Insurers Generali Slovensko poistovna, A.S. and Uniqa Poistovna A.S. have also witnessed an increase in suspicious events.
