According to the State Insurance Supervision Service of Georgia, in the first half of 2025, total GWP amounted to GEL 802.13 million (EUR 251.59 million), which is 12.70% more y-o-y. It is noteworthy that paid claims on the market decreased at a similar pace - by 12.56%, to GEL 362.58 million (EUR 113.73 million).
Non-life insurance dominates the market, and the largest insurance class that occupies almost half of the market portfolio, is health insurance (46.70%). Motor Hull and property insurance also have double-digit shares on the market. “21% of the Georgian population uses health insurance. 8% of vehicles registered in Georgia are insured”, the regulator’s report says.
According to the report, during the reporting period, profit of insurers amounted to GEL 162 million, and net profit was GEL 56 million. In addition, total assets of insurance companies for the first six months amounted to GEL 1.727 million, and equity - GEL 466 million.
In the first half of 2025, 19 insurance companies operated on the market, among which GPI Holding remains the leader in terms of GWP (GEL 147.98 million). The top three remained unchanged: TBC and Aldagi rank second and third, respectively.
