At the end of 3Q2025, Georgia's insurance market grew by 11.77% in local currency, reaching GEL 1,098.25 million (EUR 346.02 million), according to data published by the State Insurance Supervision Service of Georgia.
According to the State Insurance Supervision Service, 21% of the population in Georgia uses private health insurance. As of September 30, 2025, the number of active health insurance policies reached 782,035 units, which indicates a 4% increase y-o-y.
As the regulator noted, in the first nine months of 2025, insurance companies generated the largest share of premiums in the health insurance segment – GEL 478.07 million (+11.66%). GPI Holding remains the leader in this segment (GEL 118.9 million in health insurance). Imedi L ranks second, and Ardi third.
Total paid claims on the market decreased by 3.73% y-o-y, amounting to GEL 551.2 million (EUR 173.67 million).
For the first nine months of this year, insurance profit amounted to GEL 272 million, while net profit reached GEL 113 million. Compared to the same period in 2024, net profit of the sector decreased by GEL 2 million.
At the end of 3Q2025, 19 insurance companies operated in the market, among which GPI Holding retains the undisputed leadership in terms of GWP (GEL 196.57 million). The top three remained unchanged compared to the same period last year: TBC and Imedi L rank second and third, respectively. It's worth noting that the top three already generate almost 68% of all premiums on the Georgian market.
