For the first 5 months of 2020, insurance market of Kyrgyzstan generated GWP worth KGS 297.7 million (EUR 3.63 million), as the data, published by the State Service of regulation and supervision of the financial market at the government of the Kyrgyz Republic, show.

Due to the pandemic situation, the emergency state in the country was extended until the mid-third decade of May 2020. For this reason, insurers' statements were presented in aggregate figures for 5 months of the current year.

Insurers' paid claims for the period reached KGS 62.74 million, which is about 20% more than in the first quarter of 2019. The largest segment of the market in terms of GWP collected in January-May and paid claims is property insurance (almost 52% of total GWP and approximately 50% of paid claims).

As of the end of May 2020, 14 insurers were active on the market. TOP-3 take up over 52% of the market portfolio. INGOSSTRAKH is the leader in terms of premiums generated for the first five months (market share is 24.81%), followed by JUBILI KYRGYZSTAN and ATN Polis.
