According to preliminary figures published by the Insurance Supervision Agency of Montenegro (ISA), the business of Montenegrin insurers increased by 7.8% y-o-y in the first quarter of 2025, reaching EUR 37.16 million.
Gross written premiums from non-life insurance totaled EUR 30.55 million in January-March 2025, up by 7% y-o-y, while the life insurance GWP totaled EUR 6.61 million, up by 11.5% y-o-y.
At the same time, total gross claims paid increased by 9.6% to EUR 14.37 million. Of this total, life indemnities amounted to EUR 3.18 million vs. EUR 2.77 million a year before, while non-life payments increased by 8.22% y-o-y to EUR 11.20 million mostly because of the 15.7% growth reported in MTPL segment and almost +21.2% in MoD.
The statistics published by Montenegrin ISA comprises data from nine insurance companies operating in the country: four life and five non-life insurers. Wiener Stadtische zivotno osiguranje remains the largest life insurer with 45.8% market, while Lovcen osiguranje is the largest non-life insurer with a 38% market share.
