The Slovene insurance market went down, overall, by almost 11% y-o-y in 2024, consolidated GWP reaching EUR 2.73 billion. While life insurance GWP grew by 5.7%, to EUR 885 million, the non-life segment saw a 17% depreciation of the GWP figure, to EUR 1.84 billion.
The main reason for this negative change is the almost 90% fall in the health insurance business as a result of the convulsion cause by the governmental decision to abolish, starting with January 1st 2024 the voluntary supplementary health insurance and replace it by a mandatory health contribution managed by the public Health insurance institute of Slovenia. All the policies issued by the insurance companies that provide supplementary health insurance have automatically expired at 31 Decembre.
In property insurance, GWP increased by 15.6%, to EUR 428.3 million. A similar growth rate was recorded for the motor insurance sector (15.9% y-o-y), for which GWP reached EUR 939.6 million..
