Cypriot insurers posted H1 2021 aggregate GWP of EUR 476.5 million, up by EUR 19.2 million (or by 4.2% y-o-y), according to the half-year market figures report published by the Insurance Association of Cyprus - IAC.

The GWP from non-life insurance lines totaled EUR 257.7 million (down by 0.5% y-o-y), while the life insurance segment generated premiums of EUR 218.8 million, or 10.4% more y-o-y.

During the period, the value of gross claims incurred was almost EUR 212 million (down by 6.7% y-o-y), of which EUR 102 million related to life insurance, EUR 55.5 million - motor, EUR 33 million - accidents & health.

In life insurance, EUROLIFE (a 28.1% market share as GWP) led the field, while the largest non-life insurer as GWP was GENERAL INS. CYPRUS - 11.5% market share.
