STATISTICS: KOSOVO, FY2019: insurers reported annual loss of EUR 2.8 million

The insurance market of Kosovo totaled EUR 101.5 million at the end of 2019, 8.5% more y-o-y, according to data provided by the Central Bank (CBK).

The figures reveal that the quarterly aggregate market result was negative, the 13 local insurers reporting a net loss of EUR -2.8 million, from a net profit of EUR 3 million at the end of December 2018. At the same time, the total assets held by Kosovo insurance companies increased to EUR 193.9 million at the end of 2019, from EUR 177.3 million a year earlier.

In terms of premiums, Life insurance GWP increased by half million euro to EUR 3.5 million, according to the "Financial System - Monthly Information" released on CBK website. Non-life GWP increased by 8.3% y-o-y to EUR 98 million, of which EUR 51.2 million related to Domestic MTPL, EUR 7.8 million - Border policies and EUR 39 million - other voluntary classes, according to "The Insurance Companies Activity" published by CBK.
