STATISTICS: KOSOVO: the number of sold policies expanded by more than 10% y-o-y during 3Q
The insurance market of Kosovo increased by 7.66% y-o-y during 3Q, to EUR 73.3 million, according to data published by the Central Bank - CBK. The aggregate value of paid claims was up by 8.52% y-o-y, to EUR 33.93 million, of which EUR 21.12 million related to Domestic MTPL policies.

MTPL premiums accounted for 60.48% of total GWP, of which a share of 52.27% - third party liability policies, while the share of Border policies was 8.21%. Other types of voluntary segments accounted for ~39.52% of total market. It is worth mention that the figures presented by CBK include only the insurers' activity on non-life segment.

In the analyzed period, the total number of policies sold by insurance companies increased by almost 90 thousand, to 910.1 thousand compared to 820.5 thousand policies during January-September 2018. Out of the total, 334.8 thousand were Domestic Motor Third Party Liability policies, 329.2 thousand - Border policies and 246 thousand other types of voluntary policies.

13 insurers were active on the local market, of which 11 - non-life and 2 specialized life insurers. According to CBK, currently seven companies are foreign owned and are holding about 51.1% of total assets.
