STATISTICS: Kosovo insurers posted a quarterly loss of over half million euro

The insurance market of Kosovo totaled EUR 25.7 million at the end of Q1 2021, 12.5% more y-o-y, according to data provided by the Central Bank (CBK).

The figures reveal that the quarterly aggregate market result was negative, the 13 local insurers reporting a net loss of EUR -0.6 million, from a net profit of EUR 2.1 million at the end of March 2020.

At the same time, the total assets held by Kosovo insurance companies increased to EUR 224.5 million at the end of Q1 2021, from EUR 200.6 million a year earlier.

In terms of premiums, Life insurance GWP increased to EUR 1 million, according to the "Financial System - Monthly Information" released on CBK website. At the same time, non-life GWP increased by 11% y-o-y to EUR 24.7 million, of which EUR 13.7 million related to Domestic MTPL, EUR 1.1 million - Border policies and EUR 9.8 million - other voluntary classes, according to "The Insurance Companies Activity" published by CBK.
