Lithuanian insurers reported GWP of EUR 387.7 million in 1H 2017, the growth rate within the entire insurance market being 17.4%, according to the half-year figures published on the Central Bank's website.

The life insurance segment expanded by 9.6% y-o-y to EUR 109.7 million due the 10.9% increase posted by the index-linked and unit-linked products.

In case of non-life segment, the significant increase in the premiums of motor insurance classes (MoD +20.9%, MTPL +33.4%) led to robust market growth of 20.8%.

According to the Central Bank's statistics, Swedbank Life Insurance (21.4% market share), Aviva Lietuva (20.7%) and SEB gyvybes draudimas (17.4%) were the top 3 life insurers in the country as GWP.

Of 15 non-life insurers active in the country, the largest three as GWP were Lietuvos draudimas (EUR 81.9 million), BTA Insurance Company (EUR 43.8 million) and ERGO (EUR 38 million).
