STATISTICS: SLOVAK insurance market up by 4.4% in 1Q2015, NBS

In 1Q2015 the Slovak insurance market totaled EUR 614.20 million, 4.43% up y-o-y, the statistics published by the National Bank of Slovakia (NBS) indicated. The value of paid claims increased by 4.67% y-o-y to EUR 313.88 million.

In terms of GWP, the market continued to be dominated by life insurance (6.62% increase to EUR 315.44 million), which accounted for the 51.36% of the total premium volume. Of this total, about EUR 151 million was generated by traditional life insurance segment, while the unit-linked products generated premiums of EUR 99 million.

Non-life insurance accounted for the remaining 48.64% of the market, of which 24.38% were generated by motor insurance policies: Motor Hull (10.60%) and MTPL (13.78%).
