STATISTICS: UL products and life traditional policies pushed the Slovene life insurance market in negative area
Slovenian insurance market totaled EUR 724 million at the end of Q1 2021, 1.3% more y-o-y, according to the Slovenian Insurance Association's Q1 report.

Life insurance GWP decreased by more than 2% y-o-y to EUR 193.5 million due to more than 7% reductions in traditional policies and UL portfolio, while the non-life segment reported a positive growth rate of 2.6% y-o-y, reaching EUR 530.3 million.

In terms of paid claims, the aggregate value was ~EUR 402 million, of which about EUR 148 million - life indemnities, EUR 122 million - payments related to health insurance contracts, and EUR 83 million - motor classes payments (MTPL and MoD, summed up), the remaining EUR 50 million being related to other non-life insurance claims.

Slovenia's largest insurer in terms of GWP was Zavarovalnica TRIGLAV with a 28.41% market share - the equivalent of ~EUR 205.67 million in GWP followed by Zavarovalnica SAVA (17.97% market share) and GENERALI zavarovalnica (16.14%).
