Swiss Re appointed Dean Galligan as Head of Transactions for the Life & Health Reinsurance (L&H Re) Business Unit, effective 1 August 2026. This newly created role will bring together L&H Re's global teams engaged in structuring complex capital and balance sheet solutions and longevity reinsurance.

Dean Galligan joins Swiss Re from Phoenix Group, where he served as Chief Capital Officer and member of the FTSE 100 Group Executive Committee. Previously, he was Global Head of Cross Asset Structuring & Solutions at Barclays Investment Bank, responsible for executing complex transactions for institutional clients, including insurers. Galligan spent over 15 years at Goldman Sachs, where he held a number of senior leadership roles, advising re/insurers on capital optimisation, risk transfer and structured financing.

Dean Galligan will be based in London.
