According to the study conducted by UNSAR (The National Association of Insurance and Reinsurance Companies in Romania) and IRES (The Romanian Institute for Evaluation and Strategy), most Romanians continue to prefer direct interaction when it comes to concluding an insurance policy.
Thus, if in 2019 only 6% of Romanians said they prefer to buy insurance products online by unsing a comupter or mobile phone, in 2020 their share rose to 12%, most likely due to restrictions imposed during the COVID-19 pandemic, which determined the rapid increase in accessing online services.
The same study shows that about 1 in 5 Romanians (about 18%) prefer online services for purchasing policies or managing them, while the share of those who use online services in general, other than insurance, is 59%.
The category of population for which online solutions are more important is represented by young people up to 35 years old, with higher education, and who live in urban areas.
