6 November 2025 — Daniela GHETU
UNIQA has launched UNIQA Sustainable Business Solutions in Southeast Europe, coordinated from Romania, to help companies strengthen resilience and adaptability amid climate change and increasing regulatory complexity, marking a key milestone in the Group’s regional sustainability and transformation strategy.

With climate risks, extreme weather events, and sustainability regulations increasingly reshaping the business environment, UNIQA positions itself as a trusted partner for companies seeking to manage transformation and embed sustainability in their long-term strategies.

Part of the UNIQA Group, active in Austria and Central and Eastern Europe, UNIQA Sustainable Business Solutions offers consulting, risk mitigation, and operational resilience services. Backed by a team of over 50 experts, the unit provides tailored risk assessments, loss prevention programs, and specialized sustainability training to help clients build a safe and sustainable future.

Since 2021, UNIQA has aligned its sustainability policies with EU directives and the Paris Agreement, integrating environmental objectives into its corporate strategy. The Group’s approach focuses on reducing ecological impact, adopting ESG standards, and enhancing transparency and stakeholder engagement.

In the SEE region, nearly half of UNIQA’s portfolio consists of corporate clients, many of whom face increasing ESG compliance demands. To support them, UNIQA offers standardized ESG risk evaluation tools and expert advisory services that help integrate sustainability principles into corporate strategies.

Operating independently from traditional insurance activities, UNIQA Sustainable Business Solutions complements the Group’s portfolio with risk engineering and sustainability consulting. Services include property and business interruption risk analysis, liability and fleet safety assessments, construction risk management, climate risk modeling, carbon footprint measurement, ESG reporting, cybersecurity risk assessment, and customized training through the UNIQA Sustainable Academy.

“Resilience and sustainability are the foundation for creating lasting value,” said Nela Belević, SEE Regional Board Member responsible for the Corporate and Affinity model. “Our approach anticipates change, manages risks proactively, and turns environmental challenges into opportunities for innovation and growth.”

Ramona Bernic, Vice-Chairwoman of the UNIQA Insurance Management Board, added: “Coordinating this initiative from Romania reflects our strong commitment to helping companies across Southeast Europe transition to greener and more resilient business models. Together, we can build a sustainable future for the entire region.”
