UNIQA turns to positive 9-mo pre-tax earnings in MACEDONIA

Austrian insurance group UNIQA said on Wednesday it turned to positive earnings before taxes from operations in Macedonia of 723,000 euro in the first nine months of 2014 from a pre-tax loss of 48,000 euro a year ago.

Premiums volume written from Macedonian operations was up by 0.5% to 8.7 million euro through September, UNIQA said in a financial report posted on its website.

Gross written premiums in non-life insurance segment accounted for 8.3 million euro of the total premiums volume, up 0.2% on the year, while the remainder is from life-insurance, of which gross written premiums grew 5.3% on the year.
