The General Assembly of UNSAR – the National Union of Insurance and Reinsurance Companies of Romania, which brings together 21 insurers representing over 90% of the local market – has elected the members of its Board of Directors for a new three-year mandate.
Alexandru Ciuncan will continue to serve as President of UNSAR, while the Vice-President position will be held by GENERALI Romania. The Board also includes ALLIANZ-ȚIRIAC Asigurări, NN Asigurări de Viață, PAID Romania, SIGNAL IDUNA Asigurare-Reasigurare, and UNIQA Asigurări.
“Among our key priorities for the coming years are strengthening public trust in the insurance sector and enhancing the resilience of both society and the economy. Studies show that Romanians are increasingly interested in insurance. This motivates us to accelerate UNSAR’s projects in the area of financial education, and beyond,” said Alexandru Ciuncan, President & CEO of UNSAR.
According to UNSAR’s Statute, the Board of Directors oversees the association’s operational activity and ensures the implementation of the decisions of the General Assembly, in pursuit of its mission and objectives.
Insurance is a key sector of the Romanian economy, contributing significantly to its development. Insurers in Romania pay out claims worth approximately EUR 6.5 million every single day.
