Alta Group, owned by entrepreneur Davor Macura, has acquired insurer ZOIL Makedonija AD Bitola, becoming the owner of all its shares, osiguranje.hr wrote. Following the acquisition, the insurer was renamed Alta Osiguranje AD Skopje. Once the regulatory procedures are completed, the company will offer non-life insurance products.

The total value of the transaction on the North Macedonian market amounted to MKD 104.88 million, or approximately EUR 1.7 million. Alta Group is also preparing to further expand its footprint into Bosnia and Herzegovina and Montenegro. Under an agreement with Austria's Raiffeisen Bank International, Alta is expected to acquire Addiko Bank operations in Sarajevo and Banja Luka, as well as Addiko Bank's businesses in Serbia and Montenegro.

This is not Davor Macura's first major investment in the North Macedonian market. Alta Banka Beograd previously acquired a majority stake in Stopanska Banka AD Bitola, which now operates as Alta Banka AD Bitola. According to data from the Macedonian Stock Exchange, Alta Banka Beograd increased its ownership stake to more than 95% in early 2026.

ZOIL Makedonija was established in October 2023. With this acquisition, Alta Group is bringing together banking, payment, leasing and insurance services within an integrated financial services platform in North Macedonia.
