At the end of March 2026, the BiH insurance market totaled EUR 150.56 million (BAM 294.48 million), up by 6.94% y-o-y, as the local insurance agency – AZOBIH informed. At the same time, the value of claims paid by insurers expanded by 11.62% y-o-y to EUR 67.08 million.
Non-life insurance premiums increased by 6.9% y-o-y to EUR 122.68 million, while premiums in the life insurance segment went up 7.18% to EUR 27.9 million. From the non-life subclasses, EUR 16.28 million corresponded to the property lines and EUR 85.44 million to motor insurance (MoD and MTPL, summed). Both market segments recorded a positive trend although in property insurance, the “damages to property” class saw an over 12% drop in GWP.
The value of GWP by the insurers operating in the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina increased by 7.94% to EUR 107.98 million (71.7% of total GWP), while the Republika Srpska based insurers generated EUR 42.6 million, up by 4.5% y-o-y.
In GWP terms, the top three largest insurers in the country were FBiH based insurers ASA Central osiguranje osiguranje (12.44% market share), Adriatic osiguranje (10.53%) and Uniqa osiguranje (8.68%).
