Organized by the Slovenian Insurance Supervising Agency (AZN), the 9th International Insurance Conference will take place under the titles It’s getting hot. Temperature is rising, is Insurance #COOLing? on 5 September, in Ljubljana.
The conference will bring together experts and scientists from various fields. They will discuss the effects of climate change on the insurance market, ways to reduce the insurance gap, and the necessity of finding effective solutions to protect our environment and assets.
In the morning session of the conference, entitled Science and Natural Catastrophes (Nat-Cat), speakers will address the challenges of the insurance gap from different perspectives and explore ways to reduce it. Seeking answers to questions about the reality of climate risks and assessing the insurance gap in Slovenia in connection with behavioral patterns, as well as discussing the latest trends in predicting natural disasters as prerequisites for effective planning of measures and mitigating the consequences of natural disasters are the main focus points in the first part of the conference.
Professor Karl van Hulle will moderate the panel discussion Bridging the Gap with representatives from reinsurance companies.
In the afternoon session of the conference, titled In Search of Solutions, effective strategies for managing climate risks and look for solutions for insuring against natural disasters will be explored. The large extent of the insurance gap highlights the urgent need for comprehensive measures to strengthen protection against natural disasters and for the cooperation of the state, the insurance sector, and consumers.
