Armenia's insurance sector increased tax payments to the state budget 2.8-fold in the first half of 2026, reaching nearly AMD 1.7 billion (~EUR 4.36 million).

This increase was driven by inclusion of five insurance companies out of the seven on the current list of Armenia's top 1,000 taxpayers, compared to only two companies (LIGA Insurance and INGO) a year ago, ArmInfo reports.

According to data from the State Revenue Committee of the Republic of Armenia, LIGA Insurance, INGO, Nairi Insurance, Armenia Insurance, and REGO Insurance are on the list of Armenia's top 1,000 taxpayers in the first half of 2026. Sil Insurance and Efes are not included.

Direct taxes paid by the insurance sector tripled y-o-y, reaching AMD 1.4 billion.

LIGA Insurance topped the list of insurance companies by tax payments, rising to 369th place (from 782nd a year ago). The company paid AMD 536.4 million to the state budget. Nairi Insurance followed in 514th place, having paid AMD 396.4 million to the state budget. INGO dropped to 688th place (from 501st a year ago), having paid AMD 309.7 million.

According to the Financial Rating of Armenian Insurance Companies as of June 30, 2026, prepared by ArmInfo, six of the seven insurance companies operating in the country ended the first half of the year with a profit, and all of them managed to increase their profit margins. The only company that failed to maintain profitability was Efes, which ended the first half with a loss.

The sector's total pre-tax profit increased by 75.3% y-o-y, exceeding AMD 4 billion (USD 11 million) for the first half of the year. After taxes, net profit amounted to AMD 3.3 billion (USD 9.1 million), representing annual increase of 71.4%. Armenia Insurance led in net profit, followed by Nairi Insurance and INGO.
