GENERALI: Gregor Pilgram to lead Austria & CEE region under new Group structure

22 October 2026 — Daniela GHETU

Generali Group has announced a reorganization of its insurance operations, effective January 1, 2027, which will see Austria and Central and Eastern Europe brought together under the leadership of Gregor Pilgram. He will also become CEO of Generali CEE Holding and join the Group Management Committee.

The changes are part of a broader restructuring aimed at simplifying Generali's organizational structure, strengthening regional coordination, and supporting the final phase of its Lifetime Partner 27: Driving Excellence strategic plan, while preparing for the 2028–2030 strategic cycle.

Under the new structure, Generali's insurance markets will be organized into five geographical areas: Western Europe & Latin America, Italy & Global Corporate & Commercial, Germany, Asia, and Austria & Central Eastern Europe.

Gregor Pilgram will head the newly defined Austria & Central Eastern Europe area, with the objective of strengthening strategic coordination across closely connected markets, supporting disciplined growth, and encouraging the exchange of best practices.

All five geographical areas will report to Giulio Terzariol, Group Deputy CEO, whose responsibilities will be expanded as part of the restructuring.

Manlio Lostuzzi, currently Generali's CEE Regional Officer, will take charge of the newly established Special Projects Unit, effective November 2, 2026, as part of the Group's revised organizational structure. The new unit will operate alongside the Group Insurance & Business Performance function, headed by Santiago Villa, which will bring together the Life & Health, P&C, and Reinsurance segments. The changes are part of Generali's efforts to strengthen coordination and operational efficiency across the Group.

At Group level, the new organizational structure will take effect on November 2, 2026, with the geographical reorganization following on January 1, 2027. Generali said the changes are intended to improve coordination between its Head Office functions and local markets, while making decision-making more efficient.

Commenting on the reorganization, Philippe Donnet, Generali Group CEO, emphasized the importance of developing internal talent and strengthening operational excellence to support the Group's future growth.
