It has been a month since the most devastating storm in Latvia in recent years, which caused widespread damage: thousands of trees were broken and uprooted, buildings and cars were damaged, agricultural fields were devastated, and properties were flooded.

According to data compiled by the Latvian Insurers Association (LAA), by September 21, insurers had received 7,809 claims, of which 4,844, or 62%, were completed and fully processed. In total, almost EUR 5.5 million have been paid to customers so far, but more than EUR 9.4 million have been reserved for other reported losses.

As of September 7, 42% of the 7,029 applications were settled, and currently the proportion of settled cases has already reached 62% of the total 7,809 applications.

"Insurers are doing everything possible to review claims for damages caused by the storm and for customers to receive compensation as quickly as possible. This is also confirmed by the latest data. In turn, the amount of compensation paid to customers has increased from more than EUR 2.5 million to almost EUR 5.5 million", emphasized LAA President Jānis Abāšins.
