WTW has become the official insurance partner of the Barclays Women’s Super League (BWSL) and WSL2 under a new multi-year partnership aimed at supporting the continued development and professionalization of women’s football.

As part of the partnership, WTW will work with WSL Football and clubs across BWSL and BWSL2 to explore insurance and risk solutions tailored to the specific needs of female athletes.

A key initiative will be the planned co-creation of an insurance solution specifically designed for BWSL and BWSL2 players, intended to strengthen their financial protection and support throughout their careers.

WTW noted that female footballers may face health considerations and risk exposures that differ from those of male players, making tailored insurance increasingly relevant as the women’s game expands and professionalizes. Appropriate coverage can help protect players’ earnings in the event of injury or illness, while also helping clubs protect their investment in players.

“Ensuring we have the right protection and support in place for players during their careers and for clubs is an important part of building a truly professional and sustainable game,” said Zarah Al-Kudcy, Chief Revenue Officer at WSL Football.

Carl Hess, CEO of WTW, said the partnership provides an opportunity to bring the company’s risk, insurance and advisory capabilities to women’s football, helping players, clubs and leagues manage risks as the sport continues to grow internationally.
