Insurance Europe: Making the IRRD proportionate, clear and workable before 2027

The Insurance Recovery and Resolution Directive (IRRD) will enter into force on 30 January 2027, leaving insurers and supervisors little time to prepare. However, key aspects remain unclear, including which companies will fall within scope, how “critical functions” will be defined, and how resolution costs will be funded, Insurance Europe says.


Romania’s Natural Disaster Insurance Pool launches new website domain

Romania’s Pool-ul de Asigurare Împotriva Dezastrelor Naturale, formerly know as PAID Romania, announced that starting 1 March it will operate under a new web domain, padrom.ro, as part of an initiative aimed at clarifying its commercial identity in the digital environment.



STATISTICS: NORTH MACEDONIA FY2025: Positive dynamic driven mostly by property and motor insurance

North Macedonia's insurance companies reported aggregate FY2025 business worth MKD 17.93 billion (~EUR 291.6 million), up by 12.3% y-o-y, according to the preliminary year-end market figures published on the country's Insurance Supervision Agency website. Claims paid by insurers increased by 8.3% to MKD 6.8 billion (~EUR 110.5 million), of which MKD 5.22 billion - non-life payments and MKD 1.22 billion - life indemnities.



STATISTICS: TAJIKISTAN, FY2025: Market rises by almost 10% y-o-y

Total GWP in Tajikistan in January-December 2025 amounted to TJS 456.80 million (EUR 41.94 million), which is TJS 41.3 million, or 9.94% more y-o-y. Total paid claims reached TJS 60.20 million (EUR 5.53 million), which means a 2.1-fold increase y-o-y, according to data from the National Bank's report.
