GREECE: Thessaly has the lowest rate of home insurance against natural disasters

The region of Thessaly in Greece has the lowest rate of home insurance against natural disasters, according to data from the Insurers Association of Greece for June 2023, insurancedaily.gr writes.

In particular, the region was affected by two extreme weather events, Daniel and Elias, and shows a home insurance rate of 12.1% with the average in the territory being 15.2%. This rate is one of the lowest recorded in the regions.

It is also reflected in a series of other indicators based on corresponding data from EAEE. The region participates in the coverage against weather phenomena with only 5% of the total insurance policies throughout Greece. It has approximately the same participation rate (5.1%) in terms of insured houses with mortgage.
