For the January-March 2014 period, the Central Bank of Kosovo - CBK reported a 5.9% decrease of the insurance market to EUR 18 million, due the 21% decrease of MTPL insurance sector. Claims paid by insurers totaled EUR 7.6 million at the end of March 2014, or 42% less compared to 1Q2013.

All in all, the figures published by the insurance market authority, indicate that the insurance market rates were influenced by the distribution and the number of policies sold by insurers: Thus, if in 1Q2013 the number of issued policies was 177.5 thousand (of which, more than 85 thousand were MTPL policies), in January-March 2014, Kosovo's insurers reported a total of 188 thousand policies - of which only 72 thousand were MTPL policies.
