The total assets of insurance companies in Moldova at the end of 2023 amounted to MDL 4.97 billion (~EUR 0.25 billion), which is MDL 740.8 million, or 17.5% more y-o-y, bizlaw.md reports.

The value of liquid assets amounted to MDL 2.89 billion (+21.7%), representing 58.2% of the total assets in insurance. The value of liquid assets in relation to the value of total technical reserves on the market amounted to 97.7%, according to the National Bank of Moldova (NBM).

It is noted that at the end of 2023, 9 insurance companies operated in the Republic of Moldova (8 are non-life insurers and 1 is a composite company simultaneously operating in life and non-life insurance).
