Kosovar insurers wrote gross premiums worth EUR 82 million in the first half of 2024, 16.78% more y-o-y. Paid claims reached EUR 35 million, decreasing by 3.3% y-o-y.
While life insurance still has a marginal presence in the market portfolio, non-life business accounts for over 95% of the market GWP. Out of the total non-life insurance GWP, more than half comes from the MTPL line (52%).
The figures reveal that the quarterly aggregate market result was positive, the 12 local insurers (of which seven are foreign owned) reporting a net profit of EUR 10.5 million, by 71% more y-o-y and close the net profit value for the entire year 2023. At the same time, the total assets held by Kosovo insurance companies increased to EUR 330.0 million at the end of 1H 2024.
