Gross written premiums from non-life insurance totaled EUR 84.8 million, up from 71.4 million, according to "Insurance Companies Activity" published by CBK, while life insurance premiums increased to EUR 3.5 million from EUR 2.7 million, according to "Financial System - Monthly Information" released by the market authority.
At the same time, total gross claims paid increased 32% y-o-y to EUR 48.7 million, due to larges increases reported in Domestic MTPL (+22% y-o-y), and Border Policies (+178%).
In terms of market profitability, Kosovo insurers posted a net profit of EUR 5.9 million in the nine months through September 2021, EUR 1 million more compared to a year earlier. The assets held by Kosovo insurance companies increased to EUR 235.7million as of September 30th, 2021, from EUR 214.3million a year earlier.
The figures comprise data for 13 insurance companies operating in Kosovo, 11 - non-life insurers and two life companies.
