CROATIA: In the first five months the market rises 11.4% reaching EUR 776.7 million

In the first five months of the year total GWP collected by insurance companies amounted to EUR 776.7 million (+11.4% y-o-y), of which EUR 133.8 million (17.2%) refers to life insurance, and EUR 642.9 million (82.8 %) – to non-life insurance, according to a monthly report of the Croatian Financial Services Supervisory Agency (Hanfa).

In the structure of collected non-life premiums, the largest class is motor vehicle liability insurance (36.9%), followed by road vehicle insurance (18.9%) and insurance against fire and natural disasters (9.2%).

Total paid claims in the first five months of 2024 reached EUR 552.6 million. Of this amount, EUR 216.0 million (39.1%) is related to life insurance, and EUR 336.7 million (60.9%) to non-life insurance. In the total non-life paid claims, the largest amounts relate to motor vehicle liability insurance (41.3%), road vehicle insurance (21.8%) and insurance against fire and natural disasters (9.7%).

Among insurance companies, Croatia osiguranje holds the largest market share in terms of GWP (EUR 196.5 million, +7.9%), followed by Euroherc osiguranje with a market share of 12.6% (EUR 97.8 million), Adriatic osiguranje, with a market share of 12.5% (EUR 97.3 million euros), and Allianz Hrvatska (EUR 82.4 million, market share of 10.6%).
