CZECH REPUBLIC: Brokers mediate insurance worth CZK 20.04bn in 2012

Members of the Association of Czech Insurance Brokers mediated insurance worth Kc20.04bn for insurance companies last year, up by 4 percent year-on-year, the association told CTK yesterday.

The association members accounted for three quarters of broker deals in the Czech Republic.

Czech insurance companies last year collected Kc115.5bn in premiums, down by 0.1 percent year-on-year.

Non-life insurance contributed 94 percent of all insurance mediated by brokers.

Association members mediated insurance for 89 domestic and foreign insurers.

Most deals were signed with Kooperativa (20 pct), Ceska pojistovna (14 pct), CSOB Pojistovna (12 pct) and Allianz pojistovna (10 pct).

Association members mediated 432,000 insurance policies last year, 16,000 more than in 2011.

The trend of concentration of the insurance brokers market continued last year.

Six association members, each of which mediated insurance worth more than Kc1bn, accounted for more than one half of the association's production.
