International Insurance Forum Munich 2015: Why does it always rain on me?

30 April 2015 — Daniela GHETU
"Why does it always rain on me?" is a question which probably came to the minds of those repeatedly affected by the floods in many areas. For insurers though, the real question should be more about when and how strongly will rain in the areas covered by their business. In this case, models are the only tool helping re/insurance professionals to make their assessments.

Yet, are models an absolutely reliable tool? And how often should they be updated in order to respond to the ever increasing frequency and severity of the weather extreme events? IIF 2015 - Property Insurance in a Stormy Era will investigate the novelties in the modelling industry, as well as the solutions which could support the provision of private sector insurance against flood risks. Future trends and the past experience, the challenges with Nat Cat modelling, the insurance penetration issues as well as the most relevant experiences with the existing Nat Cat pools are also on the two days event's agenda.

Among the top re/insurance professionals who will share their knowledge and experience with the IIF attendants are:
  • Franz THYROLF, International Affairs, Senior Manager Central and Eastern Europe, GDV
  • Andreas VOSBERG, Senior Underwriter Property Treaty CEE, MUNICH Re, Germany
  • Reinder van DIJK, Partner and Head of Financial Services, OXERA Consulting LLP
  • Dr. Nicolai THUM, Manager Client Services, AIR-WORLDWIDE, Germany
  • Dr. Laurent MARESCOT, Director, RMS

Representatives of SWISS Re and the Turkish insurance pools for Nat Cat risks and agricultural risks, TCIP and TARSIM, will also join the reinsurance hub of Munich and give presentations during the event.

IIF 2015 - Property Insurance in a Stormy Era is focused on a major topic - property insurance as a tool of preserving customers' financial stability in the context of escalating occurrence and intensity of the weather catastrophic events -, taking into consideration both the future trends and the most relevant past experiences.

The event organized by XPRIMM and NTT DATA will take place in Munich, on June 22nd - 23rd. Attendance is free of charge, limited places available.
