KOSOVO insurers ended Q3 on loss

Kosovo's insurance companies posted a net loss of EUR -0.8 million at the end of September 2019, compared to a net profit of 2.1 million euro a year earlier, according to the "Monthly Information Report of the Financial System" published by the Central Bank.

The assets held by Kosovo insurance companies increased to EUR 196.1 million as at the end of September, from EUR 181.0 million a year earlier.

The presented figures which includes the Kosovo insurers' GWP reported on life and non-life insurance classes, increased to EUR 74 million from EUR 69.1 million euro a year earlier, according to the figures published by the CBK.

GWP from non-life insurance totaled EUR 71.4 million, up from EUR 66.9 million euro, while life insurance premiums increased to EUR 2.6 million from EUR 2.2 million. At the same time, total gross claims paid increased to EUR 37.9 million from EUR 31.5 million a year earlier.
