STATISTICS: BiH, 3Q2017: Three insurers with close results. Who will be the market leader at the end of 2017?

The 27 Bosnian insurers reported aggregate 3Q2017 GWP of BAM 518.2 million (~EUR 265 million), up by 8.1% y-o-y, according to the most recent market figures published by AZOBiH - Insurance Agency of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

The non-life sector's contribution was of about 80.3% of total GWP - EUR 212.8 million, up by 7.6% y-o-y, while the life-insurance companies contributed the remainder, which was 9.9% higher than in the first nine months of 2016.

Of total GWP, the 13 FBiH-based insurers (one of Bosnia's two autonomous entities) reported GWP of EUR 184 million, up by 6.4% y-o-y, of which EUR 140 million was accounted for by the non-life subclasses. The insurance market of Srpska Republic (Bosnia's other entity) totaled EUR 81 million, or 12% more y-o-y.

According to the AZOBiH figures, the battle for the market ranking at the top level remained opened for the year-end, at the end of September 2017, the first three insurers being placed at a very small distance in terms of GWP.

Thus, the Federation-based SARAJEVO osiguranje was the largest insurer in the country with GWP of EUR 21.77 million, followed by other two FBiH insurers: EUROHERC osiguranje (EUR 21.74 million) and UNIQA osiguranje (EUR 21.73 million).

WIENER Osiguranje, a unit of the Austrian Vienna Insurance Group, ranked eight being the largest RS-based insurer with GWP of EUR 14.44 million
