CROATIA, FY2012: The fourth consecutive year-end in red

As in previous reporting periods, the activity of Croatian insurers is still influenced by the macroeconomic indicators, such as the economic growth, unemployment or the real income. Last year, 12 out of the 27 insurers recorded decreases in GWP. Practically, in 2012, the Croatian insurance market totaled HRK 9.04 billion (EUR 1.19 billion), 1.17% down from a year earlier, according to the financial data published by Croatian Insurance Bureau (HUO).





CROATIA 11-months new car sales drop 23%

New passenger car sales in Croatia fell 23% to 30,029 vehicles in the first eleven months of the year, market research agency Promocija Plus said on Wednesday.



CROATIA Osiguranje, 3Q2012: Net profit up 32%

The net profit reported by CROATIA Osiguranje Group for the first nine months of 2012 amounted to HRK 113 million (EUR 15.2 million) which is an increase of 32% compared to 3Q2011. For the same period, the value of gross written premium amounted to HRK 2.53 billion (EUR 340 million), reporting a decrease of 3.2%. The non-life GWP decreased by 3.6% to HRK 2.25 billion (EUR 302 million), while the life GWP totaled HRK 280.6 million or EUR 38 million (0.3% more), according to the Unaudited Consolidated Financial Statements published by the company.

VIG plans to merge two of its CROATIAN units

VIENNA Insurance Group said on Monday it plans to merge two of its Croatian units, KVARNER VIG and HELIOS VIG, in a bid to create a new powerful brand name, WIENER Osiguranje.

CROATIA: ALLIANZ 9-mo operating profit down 17%

German financial services group ALLIANZ said on Friday its operating profit from insurance operations in Croatia fell 17% to EUR 10 million in the first nine months of 2012.

CROATIA Osiguranje: One step closer to privatisation

In response to the public tender opened in July, calling for consultation services needed in view of selling about 50% of its ownership stocks in CROATIA Osiguranje, the Croatian Finance Ministry has received four bids from well known international consultants: KPMG Croatia along with its partners KPMG Budapest, KPMG Milano & Wolf Theiss, Lazard Freres of Paris in partnership with Ernst&Young Paris, the French BNP Paribas bank together with its partner Interkapital Vrijednosni Papiri of Zagreb and Deloitte Zagreb with nine other partners.

CROATIA, 3Q2012: GWP down by 1.7% according CIB

In the first nine months of 2012, the 27 Croatian insurance companies generated HRK 6.87 billion (EUR 921.8 million) in gross written premiums, an 1.7% lower figure compared to the same period last year, as Croatian Insurance Bureau (CIB) reported.
