KAZAKHSTAN: Insurance market losses amounted to KZT 2.1 billion in April

Insurance sector assets increased by 5.8% from January to April of this year, to KZT 4.1 trillion (~EUR 7.59 billion), primarily driven by an increase in securities. As of May 1, 2026, securities accounted for the largest share of assets – 73.7% (KZT 3.0 trillion), kapital.kz writes, citing a report from the Agency for Regulation and Development of the Financial Market.





UKRAINE: Positive result in life insurance comes from investment income, while the bulk of premiums in property insurance - from legal entities

According to the National Bank of Ukraine (NBU), in the first quarter of 2026, 10 life insurers increased their assets, insurance premiums, and significantly improved their financial results. At the same time, the revenue structure shows that investment activities remain the key source of profitability, while insurance activities remain less profitable, Forinsurer reports.

Bulgarian insurance supervisor withdraws the license of ZAD DallBogg: Life and Health AD

On 9 June, the Bulgaria's Financial Supervision decided to withdraw the license of ZAD DallBogg: Life and Health AD. The FSC and National Competent Authorities in whose markets ZAD DallBogg: Life and Health AD distributed its products have been cooperating closely to protect the interests of consumers across the EU single market, EIOPA announced.


POLAND: Motor claims costs rise by over 11% in Q1 2026

Polish insurers paid nearly PLN 5.7 billion (approximately EUR 1.33 billion) in claims under MTPL and Motor Hull (AC) policies during the first quarter of 2026, up 11.4% compared with the same period a year earlier, according to data released by the Polish Insurance Guarantee Fund (UFG).





STATISTICS: HUNGARY 1Q2026: property insurance saw the highest y-o-y growth rate

The aggregate Q1 GWP reported by Hungarian insurers totaled HUF 571.94 billion (~EUR 1.48 billion), a volume that reflects a rather stagnant status of the market as compared with a year ago. However, due to slight appreciation of the Hungarian Forint against euro, in European currency, the market dynamic looks better, with an almost 5% growth y-o-y.
