Of the total, AZN 639.4 million came from life insurance, up 7.7% from a year earlier. Within the life insurance segment, AZN 597.3 million were collected in voluntary insurance and AZN 42.1 million – in compulsory insurance.
Non-life insurance rose by 4.8% to reach AZN 476 million. Of this amount, AZN 304.6 million came from voluntary insurance, while AZN 171.4 million - from compulsory insurance.
In the first eight months of the year, insurers collected AZN 183.6 million in motor insurance. According to the Central Bank, it represents a 9.3% increase y-o-y. Of the total, AZN 131.2 million came from compulsory motor insurance, and AZN 52.4 million - from voluntary motor insurance.
During January–August 2026, total paid claims in Azerbaijan amounted to AZN 773.2 million (~EUR 392 million), which is 28.1% more y-o-y, according to the Central Bank's report.
Of the total paid claims, AZN 568.4 million were paid in life insurance (+33.1%). Specifically, AZN 565.6 million were paid for voluntary life insurance, while AZN 2.8 million – for compulsory life insurance.
Non-life paid claims in the reporting period increased by 16.2%, reaching AZN 204.8 million. Of this amount, AZN 97 million were paid for voluntary insurance, and AZN 107.8 million – for compulsory insurance.
A notable rise in motor insurance paid claims was also recorded during the period under review. Insurers paid out a total of AZN 130.3 million to clients from January through August of this year, up 21.2% y-o-y. Of the total, AZN 104.8 million were paid for compulsory motor insurance and AZN 25.5 million - for voluntary motor insurance.
