24 September 2025 — Daniela GHETU

Scholars, researchers, and insurance professionals will reunite in Sarajevo, between 25-27 September, on the occasions of the Fourth Annual Conference of the Eastern European Risk and Insurance Association (EERIA).

The event, organized in collaboration with the Faculty of Economics, University of Tuzla, and the Economic Institute Sarajevo, aims to facilitate a comprehensive dialogue on contemporary challenges, trends, and innovations in risk management and insurance, both globally and within Eastern Europe. The conference will bridge academia and industry, encourage interdisciplinary collaboration and foster discussion between scholars, policymakers, regulators, and practitioners.

Hosted at the School of Economics and Business, University of Sarajevo, the event will open on September 25 with a Welcome Reception, creating a first opportunity for networking among participants.

The main conference day, September 26, will feature:

  • Opening Ceremony with distinguished academic and institutional representatives.
  • Keynote addresses from Ivan Luburić, Director of the Insurance Supervisory Agency of FBiH, and Prof. Em. Karel Van Hulle (KU Leuven/Goethe University Frankfurt), who will deliver a keynote speech on natural catastrophe protection and resilience.
  • A high-level panel discussion, moderated by Prof. Van Hulle, with contributions from experts representing EIOPA, BIPAR, Bosna Re, and other industry stakeholders.

In addition to the formal sessions, the conference will offer numerous opportunities for networking and collaboration, including social events that will allow participants to connect in a more informal setting and explore the historical and cultural richness of Sarajevo, a city renowned for its unique blend of Eastern and Western influences.
