The Moldavian insurers in 1H2013 wrote premiums worth MDL 571.5 million (EUR 35.4 million, 14% more than a year earlier, according to the preliminary financial data centralized by the National Commission for Financial Markets (NCFM). Also, the companies have paid claims totaling MDL 196.6 million (EUR 12.2 million), 5% up y-o-y.Moreover, the motor insurance classes MTPL and Green Card amounted to MDL 235.4 million (EUR 14.6 mil.; Green Card was 10.2% more than last year). At the same time, insurance companies have paid on the MTPL insurance segment MDL 41 million (EUR 2.54 mil.), 4% less than last year. At the same time, the Green Card totaled MDL 31.3 million (EUR 1.9 million) in paid claims (+12.2%).
Compared with 1H2012, in January-June 2013 the market hierarchy has not undergone major changes, MOLDASIG (33% market share), ASITO (15.8%), MOLDCARGO (11.6%), GRAWE CARAT Asigurari (10,9%) and DONARIS GROUP (7,9%) being the TOP 5 insurers on the Moldavian market. At the same time, the insurance concentration by total gross written premiums of the top 5 insurance companies reached 79.2%.
