In an interview with your Infotag correspondent, a MoA representative said that following a fierce debate that took place through the mediation of the Ministry on Wednesday nights, Moldasig and beet growers agreed to take a break for 15 days.
"It is projected that within the period Moldasig will make payments on insured events, without demanding beet growers to sign additional agreements on no claims", the source said.
The Moldasig administration said that a compromise solution was found that will allow paying off compensations in low-key atmosphere on insured events, on which the insurer and insurants have no difficulties, as well as to settle disputable issues on others.
Chair of the National Beet Growers Association, Nicolae Moraru, said that beet growers are grateful to the Ministry and the National Commission of Financial Market (NCFM) leadership for help in settling the dispute with Moldasig.
"We are satisfied that the insurance company abandons categorical agreements and begins payments without reservation. We hope that within these 15 days, Moldasig can find a legal solution on payments to each farm, in conformity with calculations proposed by the insurer at contract conclusion", he said.
Infotag's dossier: A conflict between Moldasig and beet growers arose due to differences on payments on insured events related to autumn drought 2011. Sum of compensations calculated by growers amounted to 48 million lei, while, in conformity with the insurance company, it was only 22 million lei.
It is expected that it is for the NCFM to decide on the matter as far as it is a national regulator of insurance activities. "In case if the Commission does not satisfy claims of conflicting parts, the insurer and insurants can try to obtain them in court", a market expert said.
