Thus, according to NCFM, ACORD GRUP increased its capital by 117.7%, from MDL 17 million to MDL 37 million "issuing 235,295 additional ordinary shares worth MDL 20 million". At the same time, the stake owned by BELLE VUE SRL (one of the shareholders of ACCOR GRUP) decreased from 41.56% to 19.10%.
The second insurer which operated a large increase in capital is DONARIS VIENNA INSURANCE GROUP. According to NCFM, the newest member of the VIG family increased its capital by over 150%, from MDL 15.10 million to MDL 37.78 million.
All in all, compared to 2013, the market capitalization increased by 7.7% (over MDL 36 million in absolute values).
According to NCFM data, 15 insurers operate on the Moldavian insurance market, compared with 17 in 2013.
At the end of 2014, the most capitalized Moldavian insurers were SIGUR-ASIGUR (MDL 67.4 million), followed by MOLDAIG (MDL 60 million) and GRAWE CARAT ASIGURARI (MDL 57.4 million).
MOLDASIG is the local market leader (in terms of GWP), with a 22.6% market share in 3Q2014, while SIGUR-ASIGUR is activating only on the life insurance market. GRAWE CARAT ASIGURARI is the only composite insurer in the market.
According to the Moldavian legislation, (Insurance Law no. 407-XVI from 21.12.2006), the minimum capital requirements of local re/insurers are: MDL 15 million (in case of non-life insurers), MDL 22.5 million (life insurers) and MDL 30 million in case of reinsurance companies.
