Faced with the great risks and challenges of our time, it is essential to pool public and private resources, using the leverage of insurance mutualization to reduce costs for the community, concluded the 2024 General Assembly of ANIA – the Association of Italian Insurers, which by the end of August will celebrate its 80th anniversary.

In order to manage the losses brought on by natural disasters, public-private partnerships are essential, as stated by Maria Bianca Farina, President of ANIA. In terms of welfare, she emphasized the need to quickly advance the complementary pension and create a "Pact for the health" of Italians in order to mutualize and subsequently lower individual costs, notably through consistent and advantageous tax treatment.

The insurance companies are primary institutional investors (EUR 960 billion in 2023), are solid and have the ability to protect Italians more and more effectively, also thanks to technological innovation. "We can proudly state - concluded Farina, recalling that in 2024 ANIA celebrates 80 years of history - that insurance is a fundamental pillar of the economic and social system. This anniversary is an opportunity to look to the future with enthusiasm and determination".

“Insurance contributes to guaranteeing the financial stability of the insured and of the economic system as a whole", declared the Prime Minister, Giorgia Meloni, in a message addressed to the General Assembly.

"Collaboration between public and private is a necessity, to introduce the most suitable tools for the mitigation and management of environmental and social risks, which could burden citizens and businesses", stated in another message the Minister of the Ministry of 'Economics and Finance, Giancarlo Giorgetti.

In a video message, the Minister of Business and Made in Italy, Adolfo Urso underlined that "The insurance contribution is increasingly relevant for protection from natural disasters and welfare".

The President of IVASS - Institute for Insurance Supervision, Luigi Federico Signorini, highlighted three themes: distribution, technology and governance. He also emphasized: “With ANIA, which once again kindly hosts us today, the dialogue on all the issues addressed over the year has always been open and constructive, despite the differences in roles and, sometimes, as is natural, in positions. This relationship remains valuable because good results come from the richness of discussions and the depth of reflections. I trust that our collaboration will continue with the same effectiveness in the future, regardless of the institutional evolution of insurance supervision.”

The Vice President of the Council and Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Antonio Tajani, highlighted how the "insurance sector is interconnected with the history of Italy and an integral part of the Italian vocation for enterprise".
