Romania’s Natural Disaster Insurance Pool launches new website domain

Romania’s Pool-ul de Asigurare Împotriva Dezastrelor Naturale, formerly know as PAID Romania, announced that starting 1 March it will operate under a new web domain, padrom.ro, as part of an initiative aimed at clarifying its commercial identity in the digital environment.

The change concerns only the website domain and commercial acronym. The institution’s legal name, the mechanism of the mandatory home insurance scheme and the functioning of the PAD policy remain unchanged.

According to the institution, the decision reflects the challenges of the current digital environment, where the acronym “PAID” overlaps with a widely used English word, affecting the organization’s visibility in online searches, algorithmic indexing and even generating occasional confusion in phone communication.

The new domain, padrom.ro, builds on the existing recognition of the PAD policy while clearly anchoring the institution’s identity in Romania through the “ROM” suffix.

The previous domain, paidromania.ro, will remain active and will automatically redirect users to the new website. Existing email addresses will continue to function in parallel to ensure continuity in communication with the public and institutional partners. The website itself retains the same structure, content and functionalities.

Established in September 2009, PAID manages Romania’s mandatory home insurance system (PAD), which covers residential buildings against earthquakes, floods and landslides.

The annual premium is RON 130 for type A dwellings—homes built with reinforced concrete, metal or wooden structures, or with exterior walls made of stone, fired brick or other treated materials—providing a sum insured of RON 100,000.

For type B dwellings, built from untreated materials such as adobe or unfired brick, the annual premium is RON 50, with a sum insured of RON 50,000.
