STATISTICS: CESEE 3Q2025: An overall positive trend in GWP terms and slightly decreasing claims expenses

Insurance markets across Central and Eastern Europe continued to expand in 3Q2025, with GWP reaching EUR 43.68 billion, 9.4% up y-o-y. In the Southeaster Europe, GWP written by the Turkish, Cypriot end Greek markets all together reached EUR 22.98 billion, 14.6% up y-o-y.

Slovenia saw a 22.7% growth of the insurance market, continuing the rebounding trend established after the 2024 health insurance reform shock. Among the top CEE markets, Czechia saw the highest growth rate, at over 11%. Romania, Poland and Slovakia reported moderate, single digit increases. The region’s top markets - Poland, Czechia, Hungary, Romania and Slovenia - retained their dominance.

Life insurance advanced by nearly 10%, to EUR 11.29 billion, driven by Hungary’s exceptional advancements, followed by the good performances recorded by Romanian, Polish and Czech markets. The SEE region also saw a positive trend in life insurance, overall GWP reaching EUR 5.15 billion, about half of this volume originating in Türkiye.

Non-life premiums rose by 9.3%, to EUR 32.38 billion. Except for Estonia, the CEE markets saw a positive evolution, more than half of them recording double-digit growth rates. In the SEE markets, the first three quarters of 2025 ended also on a positive note, with Türkiye recording a 14.26% y-o-y increase in GWP.
